Prologue: Warning
“Is this the place?” whispered the dwarf. He was surrounded by five other dwarfs and six elves.
“Yes, get your gear ready we are going huntin’” said one of the elves with a grin. After that they barely made any noise, like the professionals that they were and they believed that they could even avoid Tula, the dragon of the hunt. Even though they have heard about a curse that Tula would put on anyone that hunted on her island. As they silently crept into the forest they fanned out so they would cover more ground and increase their chance of spotting the trail of a cheremena. After a couple hours the group was deep in the forest and that is when one of the elves spotted the trail that everyone was wanting to find. As the signal was sent down the line the group formed a U around the trail and followed it for a little while, time meant nothing to the hunter. As the group finally neared their prey they spread out and surrounded the beast and with their weapons at the ready the dwarf that first spoke did a quick count down and at once the group of hunters flung their weapons into their designated spots on the cheremena. The beast didn’t even get to cry out as is died. Even though the hunters were proud of their work they hated to see an animal in pain so they were thankful that it dies quickly and quietly.
“Thank Mej,” muttered one of the dwarfs so quietly that it could have been mistaken for the wind. As the group split up to take on different jobs, four dwarfs and four elves had the job of preserving and bagging the animal while the others kept watch out for any other animals that would be attracted to the scene because of the smell of the blood. After it was bagged up and they had split up all of the bags, they started to head back to the shore where their boat was anchored. They went even slower on their way out because they were making sure that they did not make any noise as well as keep the bags secure. Just as they saw their boat they heard something that sounded like a thunder beat.
“Holy Brack! Its Tula hurry, come on, hurry it up,” yelled the lead dwarf struggling to get the bags in the boat as some of the elves were struggling to lift the anchor. And then when it seemed like the thunder was trying to break their eardrums it suddenly stopped followed by a heavy thump. To the dwarfs and elves that saw Tula land they saw her land and changed into a cheramena with a shimmer and a flash of red light.
“SHE’S COMING!!” one of the elves screamed just as the boat was pushed into the water. As the boat bobbed in the water Tula bent her head over the boat and snapped it up with her mouth and tossed the group and the boat back onto the shore. The group, dwarfs and elves alike, groaned and rolled onto their stomachs so they could push themselves up. They heard the soft thud of Tula-as-cheramena coming towards them.
“Are you serious right now,” asked Tula in a deep booming voice that seemed like a whisper. As she neared the group she shifted once more but this time into a dwarf woman that seemed as big as a mountain even though she was the same size as the other dwarfs. “Every single one of you has heard of my curse and yet you believed that you could get away with it.” she let out a soft sigh.
“Anyway back to your punishments, Avell leader of your clan I place my curse upon you and your dwarf companions to be the greatest cowards to ever live and so your children that come after will suffer too. Behold the new breed of dwarfs, rock dwarfs.” Tula chuckled to herself. When the dwarfs registered what Tula had said they felt their fear break past their mental barriers and so they cried silently as Tula turned to the elves. With yet another shift Tula took the form of an elf. “Ah I love how agile you elves are so it really is a shame that you will never host one of these bodies again. So Marveria, leader of your group and best hunting leader I have seen from you mortals, I diminish your name and skill and as the leader of this expedition you and your elves shall become Water Elves weaker than humans slower than giants and dumber the tree giants,” as Tula finished her last curse she transformed into a dragon and breathed fire over the group and then she flew into the sunset. And when the fire had faded and the group had a good look at each other, they screamed.
