hey everyone, i’m looking for advice on the saddle stitch on this traveler’s journal i am making.

the stitch looks fine on the inside (photo 2), but the outside (photo 1) looks super wonky/uneven although it’s the casting side and i don’t know why (also there’s a lot of wax)!! another piece i already did looked fine on both sides (photos 3&4), but i did it the same way?

does anyone have an idea why that is? i consider redoing it, but if it turns out the same because of a mistake i am doing it’s just a waste of time :((
