Neighbours complained to Gardai about where I park my bike
As the title says, neighbours complained to the guards about me parking my bike on the footpath at night (I don’t have off street parking or anywhere else to lock the bike). The footpath is quite wide and I chain to a lamppost as to not obstruct pedestrians. The only interference is that if someone parks right next to my bike facing a particular way, one of the car doors may be obstructed. These neighbours have off street parking so it doesn’t affect them. I’ve parked the bike there for 5 years and it has never been an issue before.
Guards rang me to let me know rather than giving me a ticket (which was sound of them).
I spoke to the neighbours about it after and explained the only alternative is for me to take a parking spot on a road already experiencing parking pressure. They were having none of it and wouldn’t listen to reason. Wife was condescending and husband was an aggressive prick. They insisted I should take up a parking spot in future rather than take up the space beside a parking spot. I walked away before things escalated because I knew I was getting nowhere and they’d start looking for any excuse to report me again if I said what I wanted to say.
