I tried celebrities morning routine (inspired by Dwayne Johnson)

I tried celebrities morning routine (inspired by Dwayne Johnson)

I’ve always been curious what mornings actually look like for celebrities like Dwayne Johnson i wondered how he manages to fit in such a full routine despite being insanely busy with filming and everything else he has going on.

I came across a Youtube video of someone trying out his routine, and it actually made them more productive for the whole day. That got me interested so I decided to try it myself for a week and see what it actually does to me

Wake up at 3 AM: Apparently he wakes up super early so he can do his morning cardio. I’m not a morning person so I set up three consecutive alarms (3:00, 3:15, 3:30) because I really have a habit of snoozing my alarms and go back to sleep. Fortunately enough, my family would get annoyed by my loud alarm and end up waking me so that kind of forced me out of bed whether I liked it or not

Morning cardio (30 mins): This is how Dwayne Johnson start off his day at 3:30 AM to wake up his muscles before his actual workout, wasn’t even sure if I wanted to do this or just skip it especially since I hate doing cardio first thing in the morning. But since I’m trying to follow his full routine, I did it anyway and went outside for a quick morning cardio

Meditate: this is not extreme but the main challenge is not falling asleep while meditating. I started using Headspace just to make sure i finished the whole 30 mins meditation session but I didn’t last that long because i fell asleep, thought sitting would be the easy part, but at 3 or 4 in the morning when you’re already tired, it’s way harder than it sounds.

Prepare a well planned breakfast: He’s very strict with his macro and calorie goals, but I couldn’t find a clear list of what he eats in the morning so I just made my own high-protein breakfast (avocado toast with 3 eggs) and tracked everything using MenaAI to know exactly how much protein and calories I’m getting. This made me realize why a guy like him can stay in shape.

Go to the gym: I usually like to rest after eating, but he goes straight to the gym and does 4 sets of 12 on his lifts, so that’s what I tried to do. The only problem was it’s hard to find a gym open at 5 am in my area so it took me almost an hour to find one. I don’t lift so this was the hardest part for me. I only made it to around 2 sets on the first two exercises before I started feeling like shit which honestly makes sense because I’m definitely not a gym rat

Drink coffee while watching news: This was the easiest part back from the gym I feel really tired, I desperately needed this rest. I never really watch the news unless there’s something crazy going on, but I need a cup of coffee after that heavy workout. It was nice because I got to relax and felt more aware of what’s going on in the world rn

Cold shower: He took shower 3 times a day. A cold shower when he wakes up, a warm shower after the gym, and a hot shower after work. I usually took a shower in the morning before anything else so this was new to me.
I also read from Ian Fleming Books, look here: https://www.goodreads.com/author/list/2565.Ian_Fleming
that cold showers in the morning can actually be good for you after starting your day with some activity. I don’t have a problem with the warm and hot showers, but it was a challenge doing a cold shower

Honestly, I only adapted a few parts from his routine. I gave up on going to the gym, my body just couldn’t keep up. It was a good challenge tho, like having to follow an extreme celebrity routine and to experience the kind of discipline they have. Unfortunately, I’m not like him, maybe some people can push through the full routine (especially the morning cardio at 3:30 AM) but for me it was harder than it looks on YouTube.

Tolan alternatives for accountability and productivity?

I used Tolan for a couple months but to me it seems very similar to claude on how its accomplishing. I like it but i would like something more harsh and ideally free (or very cheap), tomo is charging waay too much. Any suggestion?

I built an alarm app that makes you complete a mission before it shuts up

Hey,

I created my app Wayk, an alarm app that forces you to complete a mission IRL to silence it. We're talking things like doing pushups, stepping outside to photograph the sky, making your bed, or whatever else gets you moving.

I built it because I was the world’s worst snooze abuser. I set 6 alarms and still somehow ended up being late, because I could turn them off with zero effort and go back to sleep. Wayk fixes that by making dismissal actually cost you something physical.

The missions are the core of it but the whole point is that you start your morning having already done something to wake up

So if you're someone who hits snooze until it's basically an emergency, give it a shot. Would love feedback from people who actually struggle with this

Hey all, could use some input. I’ve been using Brave API since 2022 but after the recent updates it feels less reliable and a bit annoying to work with. I’m in the middle of reworking the search layer for a new app and trying to figure out if it’s still worth relying on external APIs or if I should move toward a more custom setup with caching and tighter query control. What’s been working well for you lately?

Hello community, need some inputs. I’ve been using Brave API since 2022 but after the recent updates it feels less reliable and a bit annoying to work with. I’m currently redesigning my search layer for a new app and debating whether to stick with APIs or move toward a more custom setup with caching and controlled queries. What’s working well for you guys right now?

I love influee and I kept using it even after the updates of last year. But its not enough for our hiring capacities and we need to increase the number of creator we onboard every month. With increasing I mean at least quadrupling it. I tried billo and a bunch of others (that I found on the influee blog) but it’s difficult even to hire a single creator so looking for something more popular and built for high volume ugc. I also need a few influencer but its not the main urgency now

One year ago today I went fully remote for a US company, I live in Spain so my schedule is basically inverted, working in the night with GitHub open all day and sleeping with the sun outside (not all day)

Took me a while to stop feeling like I was slowly going insane, but a few things actually made a difference.

With this timezone gap I stopped pretending I had a normal day, because my morning is everyone else's lunch, so I just accepted it and structured those free hours properly instead of killing time until work starts.

I got a shower before I sleep, because it's the signal that the workday is actually over. Without it my brain just stays in working mode

After I close the laptop I go for a 15 minute walk alone with no music just walking and breathing in the night.
Something about the silence after a long debug session resets your head.

For the loneliness side of things I use focus rooms like studystream or cowork it doesnt matter, where other remote workers are on camera just working

And get out in the morning even if you have nowhere to go, take a coffee, walk, doesn't matter, if I skip it I feel like I never actually started the day.

Today is my 365 day so I’ll take a beer, cheers remote workers

I’ve been broke in college for two years. tried a bunch of things to make money on the side without spending money i didn't have to get started. here are the four that actually worked for me with zero upfront cost.

1- Freelance writing: if you can write decently this is the easiest to start. made profiles on a couple of platforms, picked up small gigs writing blog posts and product descriptions. first few clients paid basically zero and its hard to start but in a few month you’ll se good results.

2- Tutoring: (only for nerd guys lol) I had a friend who started tutoring high school kids in maths through a facebook group in her area, he just posted that she was available and she was making $200 a week within a month. Works especially well if you're decent at a subject most people struggle with.

3- Reselling: Download depop or vinted, go through your wardrobe, list everything you don't wear. Took me an afternoon to list 20 things and made $180 in the first two weeks. The next step should be to buy a whole vintage box of clothing but i did’nt yet

4- UGC: this one surprised me the most. A lot of brands pay you to make short videos about their products on your phone. You dont need a lot of followers or a lot of equipment I tried a few platforms, and sideshift was the only one that actually paid me consistently, I made $300 in my second month with just a couple of videos for some Gym and fitness products

All four of these cost nothing to start. The ugc one took the longest to figure out but pays the most consistently now

Anyone else doing side hustles as a student? what's working for you

On Cohley I'm finding only influencer, and the majority is not even reading my messages. I tried Joinbrands and basically same output. I want to do UGC with very small accounts or even non existing ones. I just need them to be in US because my target audience is from US. Is there any platform for this specific purpose?

I have been able to find some creators for my app (job-search app) from reddit but I just found a few. Also I would like them to be university students or early graduate if there's any way to target these creators
