Arguing with a Protestant online about Church authority and I’m not even Catholic.

I’m just coming on here to vent my frustration on an online argument with a Protestant ( I like playing devils advocate). I am not even Catholic (been raised Protestant) first and foremost, but they are arguing with me against interpretation of scripture. They are saying that their interpretation of scripture is more correct than the Catholics and the Catholics interpretation completely contradicts scripture. So I keep asking them, “then who has the authority to interpret scripture?”, and they kind of dance around the subject. Then they say it’s clearly not the Catholics because it contradicts scripture and then I say, “if not the Catholics, then who has the authority to interpret scripture” and they keep arguing why Catholic doctrine is not biblical and their personal interpretation is correct because the Bible clearly lays it out in English and any disagreements are stupid because it’s fully clear what scripture is saying. Is this what it’s always going to be like defending Catholicism? I defend it so much I should probably convert 😂. Tbh I think I side with Catholicism more and more each day.
