IC Vs Senior Manager - Data Engineering

I have been seeing a lot of roles open for the senior manager position in reputed companies.

I have around 15yoe and I'm more interested to work on technical aspects.

Is the Senior Manager position going to be technical or more of managerial kind of work?

How is the job safety compared to IC roles for this same level.

I'm seeing multiple DEM roles are opened at Amazon India.

Few weeks ago I heard layoff stories and DEM people were on the edge.

Would like to know your thoughts on applying to this position in terms of Wlb and stability.

Hello Community,

I'm Lead Data Engineer.

14 YOE - 50 LPA - Bengaluru

Looking to move to Dubai/UAE ( after knowing that Singapore, Australia, Canada, US, etc are difficult to get)

What would be the salary range I can expect.

Hello Community,

I'm eager to know what are the real examples of  data architecture and modelling strategy for AI projects.

My thought process:

  1. Rbdms/Open table format - Will be less performant and costly - Not suitable

  2. Parquet - direct access to data but issues on data duplication and sync

  3. Vector DB - Have gone through some vector s3 buckets but not sure how/when it is really integrated with data pipeline

TIA!
