I’m a dual citizen of NZ/US. It seems like the best option for US citizens regarding kiwisaver is to not partake and ask for a raise instead. In lieu of that, KiwiWrap seems like the best second option. However, KiwiWrap requires you to have an accredited advisor. That brings me to my question:

Has anyone in a similar situation used KiwiWrap and has any advice on which advisor to use? I hate the idea of having an advisor and generally prefer low cost index funds. Has anyone successfully used an advisor that doesn’t charge ridiculous fees per year?

Company B: Local Installer

System 3: Solar Only, $15,500

6 kW SigEnergy Inverter

20 panels, Suntech Ultra V Pro Mini Bifacial panels

——

System 4: Solar & Battery, $30,500

Same as above for panels and inverter

18 kWh SigEnergy battery

Last year, I used 7000 kWh and paid about $2600 for power without counting connection fees.

I have a well insulated 4 bedroom home, work from home, and heat with electric hot water and have a ducted heat pump system going in to add to a single heat pump in my living space now. No EV but maybe one in the future. Wife works out of the home part time. Our family is probably expanding over the next few years from 3 to 5.

We’ll probably be in the home 5-10 years, but eventually will probably build something new.

I’m most focused on financials, power cuts don’t bother me much and I can always hotspot & use my laptop battery. It would be nice to have, but not essential for me.

I can upgrade to an 8 kW inverter for $1700 with Company B. My hunch says going for an 8 kW inverter with company B and 24 panels for an estimated cost of $19k is the best option. If the government starts doing subsidies, pray that it would count for battery additions and go with that then.

Thoughts?
