Filling / Priming / Painting

Hi All,

Sorry in advance as this has no doubt been asked a lot, but i couldn't find any recent posts discussing it all

After owning 2 Anycubic printers that failed me time after time, I recently upgraded to a Bambu Lab P2S. I am looking for some advice before i set out on my first attempt to fill, prime, and paint a print. to date, i have just printed some smaller things in the correct colour so there wasn't a need to sand and paint.

I am currently in the process of painting out the parts to create a display of a ZF-1 (big gun from "The Fifth Element" movie. i plan to make the print as smooth as possible, and then paint it to be identical to the one in the movie.

Advice I am after:

  1. Filler
I would like to know what you are using for filling, my research shows that a few people are opting for Polycraft Primer Filler from Super Cheap Auto? I've also seen some people using Rustoleum Automotive 2-in-1 filler and sandable primer. Open to any other suggestions.

  2. Sanding
What grit sandpaper are people starting at and finishing with for their prints? dry sand? wet sand? a mixture of both?

  3. Priming
The print i am doing will be made up of various colours of Esun PLA+. What is your go-to spray can primer? would i be right to use a can of Dulux Plastic Primer Spray?

Thanks in advance!
