Who should give discipline? [WI]
Our company has a new owner and co-president. They are big talkers on leadership philosophy, but lack many actions/behaviors. One thing they promote is that discipline should come from the most direct supervisor. So they’d tell me (HR) that the saw Employee ABC do this, have his supervisor write him up.
This strikes me as odd, if it were me who saw it, I would talk to Employee ABC when I saw them do it, or the next day.
Maybe I’m missing something in leadership training. What are other managers’ / hr’s opinions? For context, there are approximately 50 ee’s and 10 supervisors.
