My new clapped out 2015 Sierra Denali
After fixing the wife's 2017 Silverado High Country, I decided to pick up this 10-owner, clapped-out Denali with the infamous 8l90 shudder for $9500. It's got 205,000 miles on the 6.2l l86 and it is a 4x4. One thing that wasnt mentioned before i looked at it was that they replaced the magneride with some sort of bilstein delete kit and i had to unplug it from the odb2 port to get my bidirectional scanner on it. Im not sure why someone would delete the magneride system since this bilstein one rides like some cheap silverado from the early 2000s so ill be putting it back to stock. Its got the usual dings and dents of a 10+ year old truck but thats what makes this new project fun. Some things i am curious about though: I noticed that the 2015 head unit doesnt have carplay or android auto. Can i swap a 2016-2018 factory head unit in this and marry it to the bcm? If not, is there a suggested aftermarket head unit that looks stock and isnt a 75 inch OLED tv? (i like my physical buttons).
Since this truck is 200,000 miles anyway, im considering doing another AFM delete with the timing chain / oil pump replacement but im curious if i should replace the springs and valves while im in there. Goal is to make it a dependable daily driver, but i may give it a stage 1 cam and a whipple supercharger with mild boost.
