Posting again. The study will officially end over the summer (NSF Grant extended but need to move onto phase 2 after summer). If you can make it or if you have friends, please come!!! Also, if you are nervous about coming alone, I am totally fine with you bringing a friend to do it together along with me (in a private room in the lab). You can just schedule the appointments one after the other and show up together.

TLDR:
We need participants for our scientific study. The participation is 15-20 minutes long and consists of answering questions and testing our software in the form of a brief scan of each foot. You get a $15 gift card in return and get to be part of an NSF funded study which will help make custom fit footwear accessible for many people! The data will also help us learn how to prevent difficult conditions like bunions and diabetic foot ulcers. The study is 100% confidential and is STRICTLY science.

FULL INFORMATION
I am a graduate student at SBU who is helping to run an AI-Driven Footwear Study. We are trying to collect Data in order to train a machine learning model which will help to create custom fit footwear. The study itself will also be working on analyzing how to mitigate Diabetic Foot Ulcers and other problems related to poor footwear/excess stress on the foot.
We need to create a data set of 500 scans to improve our data set (This is on top of 2000 other scans that have already been taken as part of the NSF study).
Participation is really easy. You would just have to come to the Lab, answer a few questions and then test the software which consists of a brief scan of each foot (I know it sounds slightly weird but it's for science and we have no other way of getting the quality data that we need 😔😭).
The entire study went through IRB approval through SBU and we have a proper consent form and data protection policy and all that stuff and the scan will take place in a private room inside the Qin Lab in the Bioengineering Building and you get a $15 Visa Gift Card for participating and get to help science!!
