Help. I went to dti to upgrade my business scope to regional (from municipal) as I plan to expand my business in another city. Per dti, I can't upgrade because another business is using the same name from another city. What's weird is the other business with same name is a lechonan, and mine, altho also a food, is far from lechon.
I told the dti staff that I tried getting a new dti permit under the same name but under regional scope and it goes through so I don't understand how they can't upgrade my exisiting dti to regional. He said it might get cancelled by dti later on when flagged as having similar name with the lechonan. He then told me that only 1 business can have that name in the same region regardless what food business they sell. Which I find really weird.
He then gave me 2 options, 1st is to cancel my existing permit and get a new one with regional scope which would mean cancelling everything for my exisiting business. 2nd was to get another dti permit for the new business which looks like my viable option.
Now, I want to ask anyone who knows if this is the best option for me. And what would be the implication of getting 2 dti permits for the same business?
