TESLA charge issue
Hey, I’m looking for some help with a charging issue.
My home was recently built in 2025 and was advertised as EV-ready. I had an electrician install a NEMA 14-50 outlet outside for EV charging.
At first, the breaker panel itself kept tripping whenever I charged my Tesla using the Mobile Connector. The electrician came back out and replaced the breaker because it was apparently GFCI protected. After that, everything worked normally for about a week.
Now the issue seems to be with the Tesla Mobile Connector instead of the breaker. I keep getting this error:
“Mobile Connector GFCI tripped. Unable to charge. Unplug charge handle from charge port and retry.”
When this happens:
- The breaker panel does NOT trip
- The Mobile Connector starts green, then shows a single red light
- Charging stops completely
- Sometimes unplugging and retrying works, but the issue keeps coming back randomly
The setup worked perfectly fine for about a week before this started happening. Just trying to figure out if this could be an outlet wiring issue, grounding issue, breaker compatibility problem, or maybe something wrong with the Mobile Connector itself.
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
