My child who's 17 receives ssi because she has a disability. She had the opportunity to do the summer youth employment program while attending her mandatory summer school this past summer so I did all the research to make sure this income would not effect her monthly ssi check and with the amount they allow it wouldn't change. Yesterday I got a letter saying her benefits are being reduced from $994 to $603 because of her employment. They say she worked from July to September which she didn't it's a six week program july/august and they said she was not attending school for those months which she was and she does the summer youth program during school hours. Has anyone gone thru this? Im going to appeal for sure cause their information is not correct. Just looking to find out what the process is n what will happen. Thank you
