I'm a 22-year-old Moroccan guy doing an internship in Bochum this summer (June to September) and I'm super excited but also want to make the most of my time there. I only speak English (and Arabic/French), so no German — hoping that's not too much of an issue!
I have two big interests I want to explore while I'm there:
🎧 Techno & Electronic Music
Germany is the world's biggest hub for techno culture and I absolutely want to experience that firsthand; this will literally be my first time at a proper techno event and I want it to be unforgettable. What are the must-visit clubs, raves, or open-air events happening June–September? Any festivals I should look into? Budget-friendly options are a big plus.
🌿 Nature & Outdoors
I love spending full days outside, hiking, lakes, forests, scenic spots. What are the best nature day trips from Bochum? Or even weekend destinations worth the train ride? Looking for places that feel genuinely peaceful and not just touristy.
I'm on an intern budget so affordable is key. Any tips on cheap trains, free entry events, or lesser-known gems are super welcome.
