I was in the process of repainting my ceiling and when I took the light down I noticed these white fibres in the ceiling support beam.

I have someone coming around tomorrow to remove a sample for testing but im curious to see if im overreacting.

My house is a 1930s build in Perth, Western Australia. This is slightly before the wide spread use of asbestos in this area but this roof is in an extended section that may have gone up in the 60s.
