Hello!

I have had my ileostomy for about a year and half now, and overall have had no issues and have been very grateful.

Over the last month or so, I have noticed some discomfort around my stoma that I can’t seem to figure out.

I haven’t yet experienced a hernia, but from my research and searching other posts, I don’t think I have a hernia (but of course, can’t rule it out).

I have been having a “muscle soreness” type feeling in my core on the side of my ileostomy. I would say it comes up about once every 3 days or so, but can be every day at times. My output has been completely normal (normal for me) and the only thing I think could help is hydrating more. I haven’t been doing core exercises, and don’t exercise much besides going for long walks a couple times per week.

Has anyone experienced this? After all my medical history I get very worried when new symptoms and feelings arise that I can’t quite pinpoint. From what I’ve researched, it seems like it could almost be anything, between thick output, being dehydrated, gas, etc. I haven’t quite found a correlation between the feeling and what I’m eating, so maybe a food diary could be a good step…. anyways, anyone else have a similar experience?
