Lightning Ridge Australian crystal opal.

This is the kind of piece that reminds me why I got into opal in the first place. The play-of-color isn’t just sitting on the surface; it’s inside the entirety of the stone, endless layers of fire, shifting as you move it. Strong red and blue dominance among the entire rainbow with full-spectrum fire coming through depending on the light.

It has that clean crystal body that lets the color breathe and layer, not just flash once and disappear. Brightness holds in different lighting, not just under a flashlight.

Natural, untreated Australian material.

Currently running this through a private auction which is ending soon. I was going to keep it to my current customers only but decided to post it on here either way, more so for the fact that it’s too beautiful not to share.

If you’re into opal, you’ll understand what this is.

Just wanted to share one of many beautiful Opals I have. I’ve been cracking up the jars today to show someone and honestly I want to take a video of each and everyone of these tons of thousands of opals each one is so beautiful.

I’m gonna start listing some soon on my opal actions which has been dormant; intergalacticausopal

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been working with opal and other gemstones for about four years now, lapidary, metalsmithing, and some metallurgy. I make everything by hand, including my own alloys.

This piece is made from a silver blend I’ve been developing, it consists of around 96–97% silver, alloyed with germanium, palladium, copper, and a bit of zinc. It’s basically my take on a modern sterling: more tarnish resistant, holds a polish longer, slightly harder/denser, and has a subtle gunmetal tone.

In the video it looks rough, and it is, but that’s just firescale. It still needs to go through pickle and finishing. This is just the form stage.

The stone is the part that matters to me. It was cut by my friend Pulitzer Opal after I sent him one of my opals for a YouTube video he made (“Matrix Opal — how black does it need to be to be beautiful”). He featured my stone and sent it back along with this small cab.

I’ve been holding onto it for a while waiting to make something with it. Finally started working on it.

I’ll post updates as it comes together.
