Alumni Only

Hi everyone,

I’m a Baruch alum (Business Communications, Class of 2025) based in the NY area, reaching out to fellow alumni—whether in NY or out of state—for guidance or entry-level opportunities.

I’ve submitted 400+ applications over the past year and have done extensive cold outreach on LinkedIn and through personal connections, but I still haven’t been able to land an interview or entry-level role.

During my time at Baruch, I didn’t network or join clubs because I was working throughout undergrad to support myself. My only experience is an unpaid internship completed for college credit, which didn’t provide much hands-on exposure.

At this point, I’m focused on getting my foot in the door. I’m open to learning, starting entry-level, and proving myself wherever I’m given a chance. I’m not looking for shortcuts—just a real opportunity to start building my career.

I completely understand referrals are sensitive and not something everyone is comfortable with. If anyone is willing to help, I would appreciate:

Any entry-level openings at your company

Referrals or recommendations (if you feel comfortable)

I’m also open to meeting for coffee or lunch (my expense )at any shop of your choosing also open to a zoom call or phone call. if it helps build a connection first. I’m happy to share my resume and talk further in DMs. And if food or coffee Doesn’t interest you I will certainly not shy away from sending Zelle or Cash App if it can lead to at least an interview. Whichever you choose . Thank you all and hopefully my job search ends with the help of one of my fellow bearcats !

Mortgage/ Loan Operations Entry Level Pathway Please don’t skip !

Hi everyone — I’m looking for guidance on breaking into a Loan Officer Assistant, Loan Processing, or Mortgage Operations role.

Next month marks one year since I graduated with a Business Communications degree from a NYC college. I know my degree is broad, which has made things challenging, but I’ve developed a strong interest in loan processing and underwriting and I’m committed to starting from the ground up.

I’ve been actively applying to entry-level and trainee roles (even those with “no experience required”), tailoring my resume, expanding locations, and reaching out to professionals — but haven’t been able to secure an opportunity yet. I understand the job market is tough, but I’m determined to get my foot in the door.

I’m very humble, reliable, personable, and eager to learn — I just need someone to give me a chance to prove myself.

I’m based in NYC but fully open to relocating if given enough time to prepare and secure housing.

If anyone can point me toward companies actively hiring or is willing to refer me, I would truly appreciate it. I’m also willing to compensate anyone who refers me, and I’m happy to connect over Zoom beforehand so you can get to know me and see if I’d be a good fit.

My DMs are open, and I’m happy to send over my resume to anyone willing to take a look or help in any way.

While I truly appreciate any help, I kindly ask to avoid general advice like “just network” or broad suggestions — I’m specifically looking for direct leads, companies, or opportunities that are actively hiring and open to training entry-level candidates.

Thank you in advance for any help — I genuinely appreciate it.
