Just Some Thoughts on Ayush Shetty’s Journey

Really happy to see Ayush Shetty in the finals of the Badminton Asia Championship against Shi Yu Qi. I have been following Ayush since 2022 when he played the World Junior Championship along with Sankar Muthusamy at that time, I honestly had no idea that this boy would go on to play the final of such a big senior tournament just a few years later.

When Lakshya Sen was coming up there was a lot of hype around him and people were constantly talking about his progress but with Ayush it has been very different he stayed under the radar for a long time quietly improving his game without much attention.

Even during his second World Junior Championship in 2023, hardly anyone was talking about his chances of winning a medal but he still managed to win bronze that itself showed the kind of steady progress he has been making.

It is also nice to see the work PPBA Academy is doing producing good men’s singles players. Along with Ayush even Tanvi Patri looks like a promising upcoming women’s singles player from the same academy.

Hope Ayush keeps improving and keeps becoming a better version of himself reaching this final feels like a big step, and hopefully there is much more to come from him.
