Tips on how to survive EE at UMD
So the title is pretty much what I’ve been anxious about. Just committed to UMD for Electrical Engineering and idk if people genuinely hate the EE program or if it’s that hard but it’s been freaking me out a bit.
I’m a senior in HS and I find circuits interesting and stuff- tinkered around with them for small projects but nothing too crazy…also why I’m a bit freaked out by the technical depth of the major (and how no one seems to be enjoying it). I like calc and physics is alright, but I’ve never been super passionate about it (or anything).
Just wanted to know how to survive it. I hope to graduate in 3 years bc I took like 13 APs and college is rly expensive for me and my family, but I know it’s ambitious. Like I mentioned earlier, I’m not super passionate about any major in particular; EE just sounds vaguely interesting and makes quite a bit of money, but ofc there’s more to it than that. I don’t want to switch majors, because everything else seems more niche, or doesn’t have job prospects I personally would thrive in and be able to make a lot with.
