What’s the proper way to handle the space between the house and driveway/sidewalk? Should I keep the dirt level with the sidewalk and driveway and add fabric and rock on top of it?

How to properly handle the space between the house and sidewalk / driveway
Was going to lay landscape fabric and rock to prevent weeds from growing. What’s the proper grade? Should I dig down to have a few inches of rock?
