Do you think Belle’s rejection in season 5 is why Rumple became the dark one again?
He really did seem to want to change for her this time. Maybe he felt if Belle wasn’t going to accept him now he might as well return to his power. I know Belle did come back to him after all but he likely didn’t know she would at the time.
