AITJ For Not Trusting My Former Friend After She Betrayed Me?
When I was young, I was trained by my father to protect a gem that keeps away creatures that turn people into stone. During a feast with other tribes, I befriended a girl from another tribe that gives me a pendant. This makes me trust her enough to show her where the gem is being kept. However, she betrays my trust, which lead to the gem being destroyed, the creatures being released, and my father turned to stone. This leads me to have major trust issues, especially towards her. Years later, I meet the person who created the gem, and hoped she could make a new one to get rid of those creatures. However, she reveals that she did not actually create the gem. She proposes that we reclaim the broken pieces of the gem and reassemble it. She then convinces me to team up with my former friend in order to get the final piece. Despite what she did before, I eventually trusted my former friend by giving her back the pendant she gave me years ago. This, however, doesn’t stop her from pulling out a weapon and threatening my team. I tried to fight back, but she fires a shot at my friend and kills her. Rightfully angered by this, I try to kill her to avenge my friend. But then she has the AUDACITY to tell me that it was my inability to trust her that led to my friend’s death. NO IT IS NOT. Despite everything she did, I still brought myself to trust her, only for her to threaten us with her weapon. The weapon that SHE SHOT BY THE WAY, which ACTUALLY led to my friend’s death. But it the end, I did end up trusting her again, which apparently was the right thing to do, and it led to everyone being brought back and the creatures being vanquished. So was I really the jerk all along?
