I’ve always been a fan of DESERT STAR’s stuff, and I wish he’d stuck with the label and released more music. While I love and have always loved all six of his Monstercat releases (7 if you count Ascend), over the years, this one has emerged as my favorite, at least for now. While the song is short, it establishes a wholesome spirit-lifting emotional affect with a tiny tinge of bittersweetness. Enjoy a throwback to one of late 2010s Monstercat’s gems!

Julian Calor warned us, and now it happened! We got lost. As a follow-up to yesterday’s revival, here is Rome in Silver’s take on the concept of getting lost. In this unique song, Rome in Silver gives us soulful jazz-inspired off-drops and growly neurofunk drops that maintain the jazz influence in the background, unifying the song’s identity.

This was Julian Calor’s sophomore Monstercat release, and in it he achieves a beautiful dark whimsical atmosphere and some neat psytrance drops. Indeed, you might get lost when listening to this!

Here’s a classic uplifting 2014 house song. Synchronice’s take on Favright’s Taking Over takes the already uplifting original and gives it even more joy. I wish we’d had more Synchronice songs on Monstercat. They were also really good at melodic dubstep if you check out their other stuff. Their remix of Radioactive by Imagine Dragons is amazing!

We’re going back to 2012 today with TVDS’s aggressive glitch hop song Soulseeker from his sonically cohesive Black Sky EP. In addition to its aggressive basses, this one also includes an uplifting atmosphere in the intro and midsection. Enjoy some classic high-quality-production glitch hop!

Karma Fields’s Sweat EP, containing the original and two remixes by Bixel Boys and Soulji respectively, is a gem of Karma Fields’s Monstercat discography. While the original received the most attention, and for good reason, the two remixes seem to be mostly forgotten — especially the Bixel Boys remix. This remix takes the original in a dark minimal house direction, with the mood becoming more hopeful in the second half.

This is a song that I’ve always loved, and doesn’t really get talked about much these days. The intro is mysterious yet peaceful and soothing, and the whole song carries a whimsical mystique to it. Enjoy this atmospheric banger from then-19-year-old Vluarr!

With this overlooked 2013 song from his Sugar Rush EP, PIXL ventures into a genre atypical for his style: melodic dubstep. While his signature sounds are pretty much absent from this song (as far as I can tell), he still managed to make a great dark melodic dubstep song with catchy vocals from Nessakay.
