Hi there! I’m new to this community. I’ve had my XC 60 plug-in hybrid for just a week. Currently we’re charging it with a 110 outlet in the garage and it usually charged by the time I need it in the am. We had an electrician come out to give us an estimate on putting in a 220 outlet and because of where the circuit breaker box is in relation to the garage, the installation price is going to be quite high. I’m wondering if it’s worth it? Is there any valid reason I should switch to the 220 other than faster charge times?
The electrician also recommended putting a surge protector on the circuit breaker box to protect the car from being hit by a surge? Has anyone else done this? It seems like a good idea.
