I wanted to share my overall experience now that I am 10-days out from surgery. Included are photos from before and 10-days Post-Op. (FYI: Tape markings on my face are visible from the face tape that was just removed and I clearly have significant swelling/bruising).
I spent several months thoroughly researching plastic surgery clinics in Seoul before deciding on IPCHE Plastic Surgery Korea. I looked at countless before and after photos & patient reviews. What drew me to Ipche Plastic Surgery were the results people had shown, especially for neck lifts and how many reviews specifically mentioned how Dr. Heo is very detailed about his suture placement, resulting in minimally visible scars.
Consultation: Alisa is the clinic English coordinator but she was not working the day I came in Jessica filled in for her. Her English is really good and we had no issues. They first took some pictures and then I met with Dr. Heo, discussed my concerns and he gave me recommendations and a brief explanation of what those recommendations would entail, he also speaks English, he was very thorough in his explanation. After speaking with the doctor, Jessica explained pricing, she said I could come back again for a 2^(nd) consult if I had more questions and gave me contact information for her/the clinic on WhatsApp, and I was also told what remaining days they had available over the next 1-3 months, I really liked that there was no pressure.
Surgery day: I met with Dr. Heo ahead of time, we went over the surgery plan again. At that time, I had additional questions and concerns which he addressed. One recommendation he gave me based on my concerns was adding fat grafting to the procedures either now or in the future to address hollowness in my face. I ended up adding the fat grafting because I figured it was easier to do it all at once.
The surgery and day after: They offer the option for an overnight stay for 200,000 KRW, in my case it was included as part of the surgery cost due the procedures I was having done; I could have gone home but I liked the idea of not having to leave immediately after surgery and having someone with medical training take care of me and also not having to worry about returning in the morning for the day-1 check-up. The nurse took excellent care of me throughout the night; she was incredibly kind and never made me feel like a burden.
Back to the surgery, they brought me into the operating room and did all the preparations. Jessica was there the whole time and explained what they were doing and why. The surgery took 6-hours. Afterwards, I saw Dr. Heo, he advised that the surgery went really well and he would see me the next morning. I was brought to my room with the assistance of the nurses and Jessica, they were all extraordinarily kind to me.
The following morning, I had a follow-up with Dr. Heo, everything looked good and I was cleared for discharge. After I was discharged, Jessica checked in with me several times, which I appreciated.
Post care: I returned to the clinic 3-days after surgery to have the drains removed and I had red-light therapy (helps with swelling). The drain removal was not painful, more uncomfortable, Jessica was with me again, Dr. Heo was very reassuring throughout the process. The nurses assisting him were all kind and attentive. I returned at 7-days post-surgery, had another red-light treatment and Dr. Heo checked on me and said everything looked good, answered my questions and some of the stitches were removed by the nurse, which did not hurt at all. At the 10-day visit I once again had red light treatment, check-up with Dr. Heo and the remaining stitches and staples were removed, again no issues and no pain.
Recovery: The recovery has gone well for me. I anticipated being in a lot more pain, overall, my pain has been well-controlled with just NSAIDs (Ibuprofen). I didn’t realize how my face would feel afterwards, essentially numb and tight. It is a very odd feeling but completely tolerable. My bruising has not been too bad; I did get a lot of swelling on Day 3-5 which is typical (I did not know that these are usually the worst days for swelling). I have to sleep slightly elevated and on my back. I had a lot more bruising that was evident by day 7-10. The first 10 days I had to wear a wrap 24-7, to support the face/neck. Dr. Heo also taped my face along my cheeks which apparently helps with healing and improves your results.
Looking at the sutures right now, they were placed in a way that I think they may not be visible at all. All the sutures’ lines are very thin in appearance.
Thus far, the results are exactly why I chose Dr. Heo very detailed, well-hidden sutures, he is exceptionally skilled and the care I have received from everyone at Ipche Plastic Surgery Clinic has been exceptional.
I will continue to update my progress on the weeks and months ahead.
