Trusts vs Gifts in Wills?

Hi everyone, I just had a quick question regarding when a trust vs a gift would form in a will (I am probably overthinking this massively).

If someone says in their will 'X on trust for A', this is obviously a trust and requires the classic Knight v Knight three certainties evaluation.

However, if someone says in their will 'X to A' is this automatically held on trust as a result of it being in a will, or would it be classed as a gift?

I think I have lost my mind going over trusts and am now losing the plot over the smallest points... any help would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks.
