Hi everyone,

I’m a first-year B.E. Marine Engineering student from India, and I need to complete a 40-hour internship as part of my course.

Since I’m in my first year, I don’t have much practical experience yet, but I’m eager to learn and gain basic exposure to the marine field. I’m open to any type of opportunity (shipyards, ports, workshops, or related areas).

I’m not sure how to approach this:

Can first-year students get internships in the marine field?

Is it okay to directly contact companies for such a short (40-hour) internship?

Any suggestions on where or how to apply?

Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks!
