Hey everyone! I could really use some advice.

I have a 13-week-old Shih Tzu and I’ve been trying to crate train him, but he absolutely hates it. He cries, panics, and somehow even escapes out of the TOP of the crate. I tried putting something over it so he couldn’t, but he still manages to get out.

We also have a playpen, but he literally jumps high enough to escape that too. At this point I’m more worried about him hurting himself trying to get out than anything else.

I want to crate train him the right way, but I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Has anyone dealt with this before? Any tips on:

Getting him comfortable with the crate

Preventing him from escaping

Helping with the anxiety

Thank you in advance
