I am a middle aged due who aged out of IT and decided to do a career change. I went to a local school, earned my CDL an picked out a company I wanted to work for. I think I scored an above average job but wanted to ask the crowd. I had zero experience.
Local, 7am-7pm (ish). Dryvan. I have a dedicated account. I do a drop and hook in the morning and do a live unload and drop and hook in the afternoon to roughly the same location. Four hour round trip twice a day. 2019 Volvo and I slipseat with one dude who runs overnights who is moderately clean.
It's hella boring and there is very little skill involved other than not crashing. I create my own challenges by picking yard spots that are hard or unusual and try to not always take the easy way out of situations.
150$ per run so 300$ day, five days a week, M-F.
