Online, it seems like everyone thinks the word "misnomer" means misconception. I see so many people use it. Eg "Einstein wasn't bad at math, he was a good student. That's just a misnomer"

It doesn't mean that, it means a name that doesnt fit. Eg. Lead (made of graphite), Firefly (not a fly), Peanut (not a nut), French Fries (Not French). Mis(wrong)Nomer(name) it's right in the word.

Idk why but it pisses me off to watch language deteriorate in real-time, especially because misnomer is such a good word.

I find it annoying whenever people think that "If there are infinite timelines, there must be a universe where X is true" eg a universe in which all people are dolphins.

  1. The universe doesn't split at historical events, it splits at quantum observations.

  2. Just because there are infinite splitting points doesnt mean they hit every possibility. It's possible to have infinite universes and still have 0 dolphin universes. It's not like we randomly reroll every variable at once.
