I’ve worked at 3 different schools over the last 4 years as a kindergarten teacher. I left the first 2 because they were far away from home, but also dealt with some major bullsh*t from my first school (had to get union and a lawyer involved). I moved to a larger school district much closer to home this year, but was completely unsupported by my admin and my para. I ended up putting my 60 days in back in February as I felt like I was getting pushed out and couldn’t take the stress anymore. I just finished out my time earlier this month. I’ve been catching up on home projects and cleaning since I’ve been home and I feel a lot lighter and happier.

Now to my dilemma: There aren’t really any jobs around me making what I made as a teacher. Small districts by me (including one I subbed at for 5 years before I got my own classroom) are hiring for Preschool and Kindergarten for the next school year. I’m not sure if I should apply and go back into teaching and hope that 4th times the charm and I end up in a small supportive school, or if I should just try and find a different career path now that I’m out. I know this is a crazy time for teaching, so that’s another concern I have with going back into the classroom. Everyone around me tells me “it’s up to you, whatever you want to do”, but I really don’t know what I want to do and the only ones who would truly understand this dilemma are other teachers.

So I’m just seeking some input or advice from people who might have been in my shoes before. Thank you in advance!
