Crazy tip fees. Feeing a bit scammed and don’t know what to do.

We have an external wall that needed replacing and received three quotes through strata, and landed on the $70k one. Needed a special levy to get there, which we covered (block of 12).

The wall works have been underway for about a week now, and we received an EGM notice and an unforeseen 50k in tipping fees needing to be raised with another special levy.

I am so confused how the quoting could be so wrong….any insight or advice into how to proceed? I have asked our strata manager for more details but feeling pretty stuck.
