Quitting cold turkey - what should I expect?
I made the decision to go cold turkey on breastfeeding my 17 month old. We night weaned at 13 months.
This morning, I woke before her, pumped and then put vinegar on my nipples. After she attempted to nurse, she didn’t like the taste and then miraculously moved on without any fuss at all. She asked to nurse a couple more times throughout the morning but with her not liking the smell and taste of vinegar she instantly changed her mind. I’m so grateful my toddler is doing so well with this change. She’s such a sweet girl and I feel so lucky she is adjusting so smoothly.
I pumped halfway through the day and just now before bed. I’m planning to sleep with cabbage in my bra and took some ibuprofen to help with the discomfort. I have been producing about 8-10 ounces per pump session as I’ve always been an over supplier and my girl was VERY boob obsessed leading up to this decision. I guess I’m just wondering what I should expect symptom wise from this drastic change on my body. Any advice is appreciated!!
