Hello all,
Due to a hail storm i have to have my roof replaced. Looking for advice on complete removal of the brick chimney and replacing with a new chimney my friend has that was to be for a wood burner but never installed.
The brick chimney has issues with the bricks and the mortar and was on my shortlist until the storm damage did some extra on it. 16×16 from.basment floor to top cap.
Old chimney has natural gas boiler and water heater running into it. Any issues with a stainless double wall for solid fuels running gas appliances?
Whats the best process for complete removal of the brick chimney with minimal disturbance in the house? Plaster walls and ceilings. Chimney is straight as far as I can see throught the attic and roof. Possible to use c channel or tube steel and bottle jacks to "lower" the chimney into the basement while breaking it out with a super sds hammer drill and sledge hammer?
Any other advice?
