Hello!
I am flying into Karlsruhe airport on a Sunday and depending how smoothly things go, I will arrive at Karlsruhe Hauptbanhof with 1 or 2 hours to spare before my next train.
Having only ever been to Berlin before, I would love to discover some things that are unique to this city/region, that are within walking distance of the main station.
I particularly love history and old buildings. I wouldn’t mind grabbing a spot of breakfast/brunch if I have time.
Thanks in advance!

Wanna preface this by saying I’m not actually on Erasmus, but I’m a British student on my year abroad in France, which is very similar, and this is the most relevant subreddit I can’t find to rant in.
I cannot stand the town I am in. I am on an internship in a small town in Haute Savoie, and by and large my experience has been dreadful. I’ve had two host families that didn’t work out at all. I’m currently in the process of moving to my third and final accommodation. I get paid a pittance from my internship yet they have me working constantly, taking on way more responsibilities than are in my job description, and giving me little to no support. The town is so in the shadow of Switzerland, it’s quite depressing, it’s like it’s having an identity crisis. I also hate how right wing people are here. One host family member ranted for hours once about how Muslim kids shouldn’t ask for halal food in the canteen. Im just so sick and tired, but I would happily live anywhere else in France.

I am studying French at university and thinking about permanently moving to France. I am currently in a small town in Haute Savoie (temporarily) and it’s not my cup of tea unfortunately. It is beautiful but it feels like the town is constantly in the shadow of Switzerland/geneva, and there’s is also quite a right wing vibe here which is not to my liking.
However, I’ve heard good things about Bretagne. I love how proud people in the region are of their culture; I love being by the sea; the region looks extremely beautiful.
I have chosen Brest specifically because I prefer cities to small towns. I know Brest is far from being considered a big city, but it looks big enough, and appears to have a lot going on in terms of activities and nightlife.
What are your honest thoughts? Tell me any positives or negatives. Thanks in advance (:
