So, as you can see from post history, potentially moving to Europe soon-ish.

Kids got RESPs and we've been paying into it for a while now, accumulating both from contribution growth but also grants of course. And the growth from those.

We'd likely be in a European country at the time the kids would use their RESP money.

Just wanted to confirm from anyone having been in this situation, if there were any pitfalls or "gotchas". As I understand it, unfortunately we will have to essentially pay back all of the grants, as well as the gains from those?

I'm not entirely sure on the non-resident provisions. The kids won't ever be resident in Canada when in post-secondary education, i.e. starting uni (probably also finishing) in Europe. All Canadian citizens, but as far as I can tell that doesn't matter.

So can we only use our own contributions and gains from that and have to pay back grants or not? How would the attribution of gains/dividends even work for the grants? Anything I'm completely missing here?
