I’m an exchange/postgrad student from Europe deciding between Monash University and Universiti Malaya.

My priority is social life and meeting people to travel with..not so much the academics 🤭😅. I’ll only be there for one semester.

For those who’ve studied at either:

• Is Monash really more social/international, or is that overstated?
• At UM, how hard is it to actually make friends as an international?
• Where would you realistically have a better overall experience for 4–6 months?

Also curious about location—does being closer to central KL at UM make a big difference day-to-day?
