Mastectomy and lumpectomy- recovery + how best to support

My mother has an upcoming surgery (right breast mastectomy, left breast partial removal of hormone sensitive cancer). She is expected to be in the hospital for a week after surgery for recovery as she will have a drain placed after procedure. I am wondering what if/any items is helpful to have for recovery. Also looking into IV options (high dose vitamin C etc.) and would love to hear what helped most. Thank you in advance for reading!

42F with 8 retrievals and 2 failed transfers. I think almost all of us here can relate to the tunnel vision you get when you’re in the loop of retrievals/transfers where you feel like you have to keep going or your “failure” (whether it be not being able to get a euploid or not having a successful transfer) will somehow define you. That’s what drove me
to keep trying and also going through a chemical pregnancy- I felt like I needed to continue IVF to overcome the sadness I felt. My husband convinced me
to hit pause and I reluctantly told my doctor I won’t be prepping for another retrieval. That was 2 months ago. The moment I made that decision I felt such a rush of relief and also realized how much stress I was under emotionally and physically. While I’m still processing the fact that I’m moving on from this chapter of my life- I feel that it was the right decision for myself. Just wanted to put this out there for anyone feeling burnt out or feeling like they need to keep going. It’s ok if you want to hit pause or close this chapter. You will be ok💗
