So at 17 weeks we found out we're having another girl but also that she had a dilated kidney, her bladder was also not visible. I went in for another ultrasound yesterday hoping it was normalized, her bladder was fine and visible but her left kidney was bigger with urine trapped inside. Her right kidney is fine. I had read that this type of issue often gets resolved naturally during pregnancy but afraid it's not the case here, as my OB looked concerned and called another doctor to look at it. I'm going to have an ultrasound at my country's capital in a maternity hospital on the 21st. My OB says they have better conditions to figure this out and specialists will know what to do. He thinks if intervention is needed it will be after my baby is born.

Since then I'm spiraling a bit. I'm concerned that my baby may not be comfortable or in danger. My first pregnancy ended up in a premature birth at 34 weeks due to IUGR. This baby is growing well but now this issue is kinda bringing me down. I was hoping for a normal length and healthier pregnancy without much worries and now that's not really an option. It sucks a bit when people are asking if everything is going well because I kinda feel like I'm lying when I say yes. I can't tell my mom because she'll freak out about it, I'm worried about her finding out before the baby's birth and putting more stress on me.

As for it being a soft marker for down syndrome, my blood tests are low risk and there's no other markers. Both doctors were dismissive and unconcerned about that which feels more reassuring.
