Hi everyone, i’m really wanting to get back to nursing. I’m hoping to get some advice from mums who works in healthcare or has been in a similar situation.

I graduated as an Enrolled Nurse about 3 years ago and haven’t worked or practiced in healthcare since due to being a stay-at-home mum (so never got to register). I’m now looking at getting back into the industry and I’m considering starting as an AIN first to rebuild my confidence and experience.

I’m a bit unsure about the AHPRA registration side of things and whether starting as an AIN now will actually help with getting back into en nursing later, or if I should apply for registration asap and not too late?

Has anyone been in a similar situation after a break? Did you start as an AIN first or went ahead to apply for en registration?

Also, has anyone experienced delays, extra requirements, or rejection from AHPRA after time away from practice for this reason?

Would really appreciate any advice or personal experiences 🤍 TIA
