Hello!

I was on a rocky beach at the base of a cliff in southern California, and I found this little thing. I've been trying to figure out what it is, I'm leaning towards a beak since it seems really thin to be a claw or a tooth. Does anyone have an idea what it is? I'd really appreciate the help!

Some additional details:

-it's very thin, maybe 1/10 of a millimeter thick

-it's hollow pretty much all the way to the end

-the tip has wear damage

-the black layer at the tip looks like it may have broken off, like it used to cover the whole thing

-the dark layer doesn't look broken off on the bottom, it just wraps slightly around the bottom and then stops
