I was gifted an 18x55" metal sided pool in decent shape, been using the Walmart throw aways for the last few years, so this is a nice upgrade.

Problem: Kids are not tall enough yet to stand and touch at a 54" depth, all are good swimmers, however mamma bear is concerned. I have two side mount skimmers, one at the 54" level and my thought process was to cut in the second at a lower level and isolate the two via valves.

We can run at the lower level until everyone is comfortable with the higher 54" level.

Am I thinking clearly or ? Suggestions welcome.
