-Symptoms have been ongoing for almost two weeks

-I have had issues emptying my bladder without significant straining, severe deep mid/lower back pain seemingly out of nowhere, shooting pain down my left buttocks-leg, it doesn’t change whether I’m still or not.

-It doesn’t matter what I do, I get no relief from change in posture/positioning.

-I am not able to do almost anything without being in so much pain, I can’t even lift my 2 yr old or my 3 yr old.

-Toradol and Decadron injections, medrol dose pack, robaxin, and 800mg ibuprofen then switched to Flexeril.

-I have a moderate large partially calcified disc herniation at T11-12 causing moderate stenosis and

there is some kyphosis.

MRI of the lumbar spine does show posterior disc protrusion at T12-L1 with at least moderate canal stenosis, no cord signal change noted. The previous disc protrusion is noted to be calcified on the previous CT scan.

Neurologically intact throughout, right upper and lower extremity 5/5, left upper extremity 5/5, left lower extremity 4+/5 due to pain limitation. Right patellar reflex 2+, left patellar reflex absent. Sensation

intact throughout. Post-void residual urine volume 398.

I have a neurologist appointment in 11 days, the pain is awful. I refuse to take any narcotics or similar medication, what is the likelihood that I will have surgery? If so, what does the outcome look like by percentage that have significantly reduced pain?
