Hi! I am a healthcare provider in the US and recently had a middle eastern patient- 70’s male. This patient is very sweet BUT he has called the office each week ever since I saw him, asking to solely speak to me. Most recently, he called the office 3 times within 5 hours asking for me, even after front desk told him I am busy with other patients. Again, he is very nice. Has brought me fruits, homemade dish, sweets- but the calling is starting to creep me out. I mentioned this to my doctor I work for and he stated that he thought he saw this patient in our parking lot at lunch- the patient did not have an appointment. This patient has commented that I am the only one who can understand him and am his “friend.”

Is this just common culture and being overly friendly? Or is this cause of concern?

TIA!
