Setup recommendations for exhaust
I’ve got a 2x4 tent(6 inch exhaust) I use for veg and 5x5(8 inch exhaust) for flower. I am looking to streamline my exhaust setup using the existing dryer vent in my basement, windows are not an option. The goal is to maintain negative pressure in both tents as smell is a concern.
Option 1 - Run the configuration using 6 inch ducting from 2x4 into the top side port of the 5x5 and connect it to a 8x8x6 wye splitter after the fan inside the 5x5. Then attach a 8 to 6 inch reducer and have the duct work run out of the top port into a duct silencer, followed by backdraft damper and then into another reducer so I can link to a 4x4x4 inch wye that’s attached at the top of the dryer exhaust pipe going out of the home.
Option 2 - Run 6inch duct from 2x4 (longer run) that will attach to a 6x6x6 wye outside the 5x5 tent. Inside the 5x5 I would have an 8 inch to 6 inch reducer after the filter-fan and then run ducting through the top port into the branch of the wye. Then the run would continue same as in option 1 out of the house.
My guess is that these configurations would be more efficient since both fans would be pushing their respective tent air out. I’ve seen other folks put the wye before the fan in their bigger tent to pull air out of the smaller tent but I assumed that would be less efficient since the 8 inch exhaust fan would work at a higher speed to compensate for the duct run from the 2x4.
Lastly, I have a 8 inch noise reduction clamp(kids room is directly above) and ACI recommends putting it between the filter and fan, do any of you guys have other recommendations with the different setups?
My first run I exhausted the 2x4 directly into the lung room but I battled serious humidity in my flower tent due to this and it was over the winter so I am trying to get a better setup going forward. Thank you in advance for any inputs
