Hi all, passed today and thought it would be a disservice if I didn't share some takeaways to this thread as I scoured it and learned from many people who posted before me.
I come from a Finance background so maybe my perspective may not be similar to other people preparing for this test but I'll try to make this not too much of a drag and leave some keys that prepared and helped me.
My firm uses PassPerfect and I think it sufficed, i was averaging around an 82% on tests which left me feeling pretty confident, however PP uses a lot of tricky wording (i.e all of the following are not allowed except), I was worried that I was subconsciously memorizing the wording and question format of PassPerfect than actually understanding the topics. I went on to buy the Kaplan Q bank as well as just another check and averaged around a 79% on those tests. Regarding the actual test, the wording was a lot easier than PP and more straight-forward and, at least for me, questions were easier than Kaplan Q-bank. However, I did have a few questions word for word from Kaplan as well as a few Ken videos which are linked in this post. I think if you are scoring around a 70% in the Kaplan you should be fine and if you are studying using PP maybe 75% is a good mark.
Regarding the actual test itself, I had a typical draw, a lot of munis, options, packaged products, taxes, and suitability. I did have a few margin call questions which weren't too difficult. I did not have many Reg BI, SP, U, or S questions. I did get a good amount of questions regarding fundamental analysis and certain ratios, not only about how they are calculated but what they tell about a company's financials. Be able to differentiate Capital loss and passive loss and what can be deducted or carry forward. A lot of the questions and topics are interwoven so make sure you know the taxation of a product and why it might be suitable for a customer, etc...
I'm sure many of you can share in this sentiment that it feels like you know nothing, but trust you do you just need to see the question and some answers. On test, day all I did was take a few question quiz to build confidence seeing myself get the correct answers and get my brain firing a little. Good luck to those taking it, be nice to yourself self confidence is big and utilize your breaks. I'll try to answer any questions if you have them. Cheers!
