Achieving Supremacy while simultaneously unlocking the Aspect Legacy is no small feat, man.

Honestly, if this whole battle was just a plan by that bird to get killed and cleanse itself of corruption, G3, I'll buy a ticket to Russia and personally apologize to you and delete the post I made earlier (If, and ONLY if, this is actually confirmed in the next chapters).

...In fact, I would still maintain my opinion that the fight was mediocre to bad and that Nephis and Ananke were inconsistent in it, but I would retract my complaints about VTB's behavior.

(And for all those who said that this damned bird was stupid and didn't steal non-shiny things... well, you were terribly wrong)

Well, I'll be very direct from the start: this battle against the VTB is proving quite disappointing, partly due to the constant shift in perspectives, and partly (mostly) due to other factors.

And no, it's not because of high and unrealistic expectations created by the readers. The problem is far from that. The real problem is the small, but constant, inconsistencies and the not-so-subtle use of Plot Armor.

So, I have a few questions to ask about this fight. Starting with the dubious participation of Nephis (including Ananke) in the conflict.

How on earth did Nephis, as a Supreme Beast with almost no Domain, manage to help Sunny in the fight and cause severe damage to the VTB?

It's already inconsistent with the very nature of a Supreme's power. Much of a Supreme's power comes from their Domain, not individual power, since in that respect there isn't much difference between a Transcendent and a Supreme (besides the better use of Will, of course).

A Domain:

• is composed of legions of subjects loyal to the Supreme, along with the Supreme Ability which has effects linked to these subjects;
• guarantees an almost inexhaustible supply of spiritual essence;
• strengthens the Will of the Supreme (the bigger the Domain, the more potent the Will).

And along with that, we know that, from the Supreme/Great Rank onwards, both the resistance and physical strength of individuals cease to be paramount in battles; what comes first is Will.

So the point is that Nephis's powers, regardless of how destructive they are, shouldn't be affecting the bird so much. At this moment, she is nothing more than a Supreme Beast that possesses almost no Domain, with very few subjects and no Citadel.

According to the scale of power established by the novel, Nephis, with the exception of the best use of Will, is not at all far from her power level during the peak of the Domain War.

Let's get to the points:

• She possesses only one Soul Core, which means her essence reserves are 7 times smaller than as a Titan (and the enhancement given by [Soul Flame] is only 2x);
• she no longer receives the almost unlimited amount of spiritual essence, which, combined with having a single Core, makes very easy for her to deplete her reserves;
• and perhaps most serious of all, the potency of her Will is (or should've be) greatly diminished.

For comparison, Nephis, as a Supreme Titan with a Domain encompassing all of Humanity (over 3 billion individuals, along with 4 Citadels), had to anchor herself in the longing and existence of her subjects to avoid succumbing to the power of the Abjuration, a Cursed Demon (a being 3 Classes below the VTB).

With all that said, are we SURE that the current Nephis should be causing so much damage to the VTB? For all intents and purposes, her flames should have been causing, at the maximum possible damage, first-degree burns to that damned bird.

The same applies to Ananke. The effectiveness of her abilities against the VTB would be very low, due to the lack of a Domain.

And about the excessively convenient Plot Armor (the fact that this bird hardly uses its unique abilities and concept), well, I have a "little" to say.

This is the first time I've seen a Nightmare Creature make so little use of its core concept. Even Abundance, a mindless Cursed Beast, constantly used its core concept (infinity) in its fight against Sunny.

In fact, all previous Cursed NC used their concepts quite well:

• Abjuration constantly negated the heat of Neph's flames (and almost negated the existence of all humanity);
• Abundance constantly manipulated its own infinitude and the space he inhabited;
• the Spirit of Doubt almost defeated Sunny and Kai by entangling their hearts in webs of doubt;
• Condemnation condemned the world around him, thus forming his body; and so on.

I think VTB, unfortunately, presented one of the dumbest and most ineffective uses of the profane powers of a Cursed NC and its core concept. It's sad to see.

And as if all that wasn't enough, this dumb bird doesn't even seem like a Terror.

A Terror is a creature whose nature is to spread its influence and presence throughout the world. This is something intrinsic to any Terror, with examples like the Skinwalker, the Terror of LO49, Flesh of Kanakht (before its Class evolution), the Nameless Sun of the Forgotten Shore, with her Crimson Corals, etc. All of these listed have the characteristic of spreading throughout the world through various nefarious powers.

This piece of crap doesn't do anything similar to this. It looks closer to a Cursed Demon or Devil than anything else.
