Fragmented Sleep (- Elvanse/Amfexa) - Falling asleep - no problem! Staying asleep though....

I've been on Elvanse (50) and a 10mg top up for about 10 months now. Honestly, it's been life changing. I've realised that I've been living life in hard mode and am excelling in pretty much most aspects of my life - which has been great given the increased responsibilities I've had at work lately. The Elvanse is great, but it wasn't lasting long - crashes happening at about 1pm. So I was presribed the top up, which I take around lunchtime, and have a much smoother experience.

However, the most annoying thing I've noticed is my already pretty poor sleep is worse now. I was always a pretty terrible sleeper, so I think this more of an 'ADHD' thing than a medication thing but might be exascerbated. Before I'd average about 6 hours a night, but would offset that with a nap.

Obviously napping isn't really possible now! I'd hoped this would force me to sleep better at night, but no such luck.

My schedule just now (and yes I am a night owl but this works for me and my work schedule)

  • Elvanse - 8am
  • Amfexa - 1pm
  • Bed - 12-12.30am

I fall asleep no problem, but I wake every 1/2 hours, maybe 3 or 4 times before I just can't get back to sleep and wake up at around 5/6am. Again it's hard to say if this is solely the medication but it does seem worse in terms of waking. Has anyone had the same issue and any success in combating it? I hear this kind of light-sleeper, fragmented sleep and weird sleep pattern is quite common in ADHD brains!
